There are several reasons why your
laptop speakers are not working. On very common reason
is the mute function.
As easy and simple as this may sound, you’d be
surprised how many people forget to turn off the mute
button. Another
common reason is due to driver related problems. If you have thoroughly
tested your speakers and you still get no sound, you can try
reinstalling the sound driver. Sometimes due to
software issues, the drivers of your laptop can get
corrupted. When
this happens the on board devices, in this case the speakers,
can malfunction.
Try updating or reinstalling the driver, this should
solve the problem.
If not, you will want to consider replacing the
speakers. This
involves laptop disassembly and should only be one by a
professional or user with technical experience.
If you are able to do this
yourself, you will want to locate the speakers and find the
part number. With
the part number you will be able to find the correct
replacement speakers.
Sometimes speakers get damaged due to liquid spills or
static shock due to accumulation of dust. Once you replace your
speakers it should solve the problem, if not you will want to
consider replacing the entire main board. Although rare, there
are cases where the on board circuits that contribute to sound
get damaged as well.
The only way to repair this is by replacing the
motherboard or by board level repair. If you need help with
