If your Toshiba laptop shows
black screen when your using it or right after it shows the
windows logo, these troubleshooting steps might help you find
what is causing it.
1. When the laptop goes black screen when you
are using it, try restarting again with the battery and the
power cord one by one. 2. If it is a recurring
issue, check in the power management options in the control
panel and set or remove the time for hibernation, standby,
sleep mode and components power management settings like
processor, graphic and network adapter.
3. If the screen does not come back up again,
connect the laptop to an external monitor. If it works with
the monitor, either the LCD screen, CCFL or the inverter might
have to be replaced.
4. Also run a hardware diagnostic test on the
hard drive. If the test fails, replace the drive. If it
passes, try all the steps first and then keep installing
operating system as your last option.
5. Try to get into the safe mode using the
recovery disc or advanced options (F8) and do a system restore
or repair.
6. For certain Toshiba laptops this was a
recurring issue which is now fixed by the manufacturer. You
just have to update the BIOS firmware. However, check first if
the laptop falls under the criteria. You should also get the
latest updates of the drivers and all software provided
Toshiba if available.
6. If your Toshiba
laptop goes black screen when you’re playing games and
there is a video card on the laptop, try optimizing the
Graphic options and minimize the performance. Also update the
video card driver.
